Over the years, a variety of experiential worship services have been observed on Maundy Thursday.
Recently, we have offered “Journey to Jerusalem,” which reenacts key events in Jesus' final days, culminating with the Last Supper at which we take communion together. This is an experience for the entire family.
Following the Maundy Thursday service through the evening of Good Friday, members of the church hold a continuous Prayer Vigil. Alone in the sanctuary, the Prayer Vigil invites one to experience God’s presence, to find a quiet space to reflect, and to keep watch along with others during Jesus’ last hours of life.
Tenebrae Service on Good Friday
The Tenebrae Service is an evening worship service on Good Friday that marks the conclusion of the prayer vigil and the approaching darkness of Jesus’ death.
