wishing to join the church.
Youth Confirmation
Rev. Oehler oversees the year-long
Confirmation Program to provide high school students with an
opportunity to reaffirm their baptismal vows. The goal of the class
is to help the students "own" their faith and come to a decision
about whether or not to be a Christian. The program includes classes
for students and mentors as well as classes exclusively for
students. Meetings are on Sunday mornings from 10:30 a.m. - Noon.
Lay leaders lead the Mentor Program and the Confirmation Classes.
Memorial Services/Funerals
A minister is always available for
consultation and advice at this time of need.
Service of Remembrance
Around Thanksgiving and before Advent,
the Deacons sponsor a Service of Remembrance. As people of faith,
we need the space and the time to acknowledge our struggle that
during the holidays we often remember those who are no longer with
us. The simple service ensures us that though we mourn, God is
present to us and with us.
Memorial Garden
A Memorial Garden is provided on the
church grounds for the interment of cremation ashes. It provides a
source of quiet comfort to those who remain. Special care is given
to this quiet corner of the church property. While individual
markers or headstones are not permitted, a bronze tablet in the
narthex of the church displays the names of those interred in the
Garden.
Memorial Fund
The Memorial Fund was established to
provide a way of remembering and honoring a loved one or friend with
a gift which would be used by the church for years to come. Gifts
may either be designated for a special purpose or undesignated. If a
gift is designated, the Memorial Fund Committee will make every
effort to satisfy the donor's wishes. |
