RHINO 2008
"And
what does the Lord require of you,
but to do
justice, love kindness, and walk humbly with your God."
(2007 Mission Trip
Theme – Micah 6:8)
Hello PCCT
Member/Friend:
We are excited to announce that we are returning to New Orleans,
LA, June 22 – 28, for PCCT’s 2008 Youth Mission Trip.
As you may have heard
or seen, those of us who went last year returned deeply touched and
transformed by our experience. (Photos can be found at
www.pcct-nj.org.)
We invite and encourage you to join us as we return to serve
the wonderful people of the Greater New Orleans Area and have a fun
and meaningful experience together.
The trip, which has a
limited capacity, is open to adults and youth 16 years
and up. The deadline for guaranteed admission on
the trip is January 15. After that, all applicants will
be placed on a first-come, first-served basis. The final
deadline for the trip is February 15.
The trip will include
working together with Habitat for Humanity and Project
Homecoming on a variety of work projects (construction and
reconstruction), participating in evening programs led by PCCT
staff, sleeping at one of two sites in the Greater New Orleans Area
– Faith Presbyterian Church in Harvey, LA, and St. Charles Avenue
Presbyterian Church in New Orleans, LA (where we stayed last year),
as well as free time for education, recreation, and fellowship.
The full cost of the
trip is projected to be about $700 per person, including
transportation to/from the airport, air fare ($415 per ticket),
rental vans, housing, and meals. The trip will be partially
subsidized by PCCT with nearly half of expenses being met through
fundraising efforts and personal donations. The cost for each
participant is $400, and participants are expected to take part
in our fundraising efforts to help cover the remaining trip
expenses. The final payment will be due on March 15. Please
speak with Rev. Oehler if you are interested in one of our
scholarships.
If you would like to
join us, please fill out the enclosed application form and write
a non-refundable check for $150 made out to PCCT (with 2008 Youth
Mission Trip on the memo line) by January 15 for a guaranteed spot.
It is anticipated that
both adults and youth will work together at construction sites, as
well as during our evening programs. Please see the rough
itinerary and additional trip details below for
more information on the trip. And if you have questions, please
don’t hesitate to contact one of us.
Serving Christ with
you,
Rev. Marc Oehler
