Board of Deacons
Each of our 21 elected Deacons is responsible for a
geographic area of ministry. Deacons provide a church contact for
people to share their concerns and serve as an information link
between the church and individual members. Deacons also set up for
Communion, distribute flowers to our house- or hospital-bound
members and friends, provide temporary assistance (meals, errands,
grocery shopping) to members in need, and have
outreach and visitation programs for those in
hospitals or nursing homes. We believe deeply that the ministry of
PCCT should
extend beyond our church, into the surrounding world
we live in. Examples of ministries in which we are active appear
below.
Visitation Committee
PCCT extends the ministry of our clergy and Deacons
by strengthening the support system of our church family and
establishes safe, caring, and nurturing relationships, grounded in
trust and confidentiality. The Visitation Committee includes two
sub-committees: the Friendly Visitors and the Spiritual
Friends to serve members of the congregation who desire and/or
need regular contact.
The Friendly
Visitors
Rev. Dr. Ed Halldorson and a committee of members/Deacons are
currently visiting members of the congregation desiring regular
contact. The members of The Friendly Visitors Committee,
working within our
Congregation, build friendships based on trust and confidentiality
relying on the strength of our faith to guide us.
Spiritual Friends
Rev. Marc Oehler and a committee of members/Deacons are working to
develop a Spiritual Friend ministry at PCCT. We extend
Christian-based support and caring for people both within the
congregation and in the community. The relationship of a Spiritual
Friend to his/her Friend is personal, confidential, and endures for an agreed-upon
time frame. The support and caring offered is inspired and guided by
God's love for us, and is shared through a ministry of presence,
listening, encouragement, and compassion, modeled after the ministry
of Jesus Christ.
